As Funeral Directors we have long-called for the Regulation of Funeral Planning Companies and their Plans,

at last it has happened but not without its pitfalls and problems.

From 29 July 2022, any funeral plan provider that isn’t authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) will be committing a criminal offence if it attempts to sell or administer a funeral plan contract. That means it won’t be able to deliver the service you have paid for.

Some existing providers will not be applying for authorisation or have withdrawn their applications.

We have accepted (NOT SOLD) plans from some of the Companies which are not registering or have withdrawn their applications for Regulation.

Two such Companies are -

PRIDE PLANNING

Withdrew their application for FCA authorisation.

If you have any questions about your plan, contact the firm.

SAFE HANDS PLANS LIMITED

Safe Hands Plans Limited (which withdrew their application for FCA authorisation on 15 February 2022) has appointed administrators. The administrators will be writing to all existing customers. There is currently an agreement between the administrators and Dignity Funeral Plans Limited, to provide funeral services for an interim period. Find out more on the Safe Hands website or contact the administrators on 0800 640 9928.

Other plan providers who are not registering with the FCA but are making arrangements to transfer their portfolio of plans include -

EAST OF ENGLAND CO-OPERATIVE SOCIETY LTD

and

NOT FOR PROFIT FUNERAL PLANS
